Crypto Gaming Explodes Amid COVID-19
The fact that more people are having to stay indoors in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic is no news.
Persons are tied down in their homes, and they can’t step out due to various lockdown procedures enacted by various governments.
To kill the boredom, people are looking out for ultimate means of entertainment, and they are finding it in crypto-based games.
US-based cryptocurrency gaming establishment Bling has reported a rise in the number of people employing its products. According to the company, the number grew following the lockdown initiatives entered by various parts of the world.
According to the stats presented by the company, they’ve observed a 50% increase in participants in the last 30 days. The company flagship app, Bitcoin Blast, has had more than a million downloads from Google Play Store. Generally, the company says it is clocking 70,000 users daily, and close to 500,000 monthly.
An Opportunity In The Time Of Crisis
Bling CEO Amy Wan said that this increase in users and downloads is due to the fact more persons are at home, and they are bored. People are finding comfort in their apps, and they are using the games to kill time. According to Bling, most of their users are in Brazil, Indonesia, the U.S, and the Philippines.
According to Wan, the spike isn’t something that can be tied to Bling alone, but to the mobile gaming world in general. A good number of companies have experienced an increase in user activity and downloads.
“We think that this may be an opportunity for many folks who previously heard of Bitcoin but never got around to learning much about it to take that time to learn and collect some Bitcoin. Whereas many crypto companies focus on selling Bitcoin, our unique proposition is that we give it away for free through gameplay,” Wan said.
