

South Korean Police Trace Crypto-Based Child Porn Ring
South Korean police have apprehended at least 40 people suspected to be part of a child porn ring. The suspects all have digital footprints with access to videos of sexual exploitation of minors.
Reports from local news agencies indicate that a raid on 20 of the biggest crypto exchanges in South Korea yielded the vital information that the police used in arresting the suspects. This sets a foundation for future investigations on crypto-based crimes in South Korea.
Payments Sent To The Mastermind
Local news gave a report of a male resident of the Yonhdongpo district in Seoul, who took his life after he was ousted by the press. Although no initial connection was made between the man and the child porn ring, further investigation revealed there was a mastermind behind everything.
Further investigation showed that the suspect would send crypto payments to a wallet belonging to Cho Joo-bin, the mastermind of the child porn ring.
Cho Joo-bin’s Master Plan
Authorities have uncovered the payment ring of Cho Joo-bin. Results show that Cho has received sizeable income from various parties for access to child rape videos on social media platform Telegram.
According to police report, more than 25,000 people sent payments relating to child porn. Sources say that people pay as much as $1500 in crypto for access to various videos.
Crypto exchanges in the country are helping authorities carry out their investigation. Korbit, Bithumb, and Upbit are some of the exchanges helping the police with the investigation.
